# Member Dashboard (Slack & Teams)

## Overview

Members don't log into the Herd web console — their home base is a personal dashboard inside the chat tool they already use:

* **Slack** — the Herd app's **Home** tab (open the **Herd** app in Slack and pick **Home**).
* **Microsoft Teams** — the Herd app's personal **Dashboard** tab (formerly called *My Training*).

Both surfaces show the same essentials: every assigned training with its status (**Completed**, **Queued**, **Overdue**, **Due soon**, **In progress**), the member's **points**, **monthly points**, **rank**, and **training streak**, and a **My awards** section for downloading any [completion awards](/herd-security-docs/trainings/getting-started-with-trainings/completion-awards.md) they've earned.

Occasionally (at most once a week per person), training completion and reminder messages carry a small footer pointing members to the dashboard, so it stays discoverable without extra announcements.

## Training details and the web handoff

Each training on the dashboard can be expanded:

* On **Slack**, click **View details** to open a modal with the training's history and per-step detail.
* On **Teams**, the **View details** / **Hide details** toggle expands the same information inline.

**Attachments open inside Teams.** PDF and audio attachments on training steps now open in a Teams stage view — a PDF renders page by page and audio plays with standard controls, with a download link at the bottom — instead of bouncing the member out to an external browser.

From the detail view, **Open on web** hands the member off to the web player through a secure link (valid for 7 days) — useful for longer trainings or anyone who prefers the browser. No web account is needed.

## Training streaks

Streaks reward **consistent, on-time completion**. A member's streak counts consecutive assigned trainings completed **within 5 business days of assignment** — or by the training's due date when a later one is set:

* Completing on time extends the streak.
* Completing late — or letting an assignment slip past its window — resets it to 0.
* Quiet stretches with no assignments don't hurt: streaks freeze rather than decay.

The streak appears on the Slack Home tab and the Teams Dashboard tab, and completion messages celebrate streaks of two or more. You can also ask the Herd bot things like *"who has the best training streak?"* — the [leaderboard](/herd-security-docs/getting-started/setup-user-training-leaderboard.md) chatbot queries can rank by streak.
