# Slack Training Setup

## **Slack Setup Overview**

The **Slack Connection** lets you approve and manage the integration between Herd and your company’s Slack workspace. Once connected, users sync automatically, ensuring Herd stays aligned with your organization’s directory and communication workflows.

### Prerequisites for Slack Connection

* **Slack Admin Access** – You must be a Slack Workspace Admin (or have the necessary permissions) to approve and authorize the integration.
* **Herd Admin Role** – Only Herd admins can configure and manage the Slack connection.
* **Active Slack Workspace** – Your organization needs an active Slack workspace connected to all relevant users.
* **Internet Access & Authentication** – Ensure you can log into both Slack and Herd to complete the connection flow.

### **Step 1: Start Slack App Connection**

1. Login to your organizations Herd Security Admin Console.
2. On the left side navigation, select **administration.**
3. Under setup, you'll see a box called Slack Integration.

4. Click the **Connect Slack** button.
5. This should reroute you to a page to approve the Herd Slack App to your Organizations Slack.

\*Note that as of Dec 2025, Herd's app is not public on the Slack Marketplace. You may see a warning saying that Herd is NOT approved. Please ignore this for the time being.

### **Step 2: Connect Slack To Herd**

1. On the screen you're on, approve the Slack connection.
2. Once completed it should automatically add the Herd Slack App to your organization. You may need to search for it in your Slack.

### Step 3: Confirm Successful Connection

1. In order to test a successful connection, simply check the **Users** page in the Herd admin console.
2. If you see the users from your organization in, then you have successfully synced.
